The risks of overweight for your pet

Is your pet a bit chubby? Pay attention!

Just like with humans, excess fat is more than just an aesthetic issue. Our loyal companions increasingly suffer from problems caused by overweight and obesity. The extra pounds are, literally, a burden on their lives.

The main reason for the excess weight is often the owner, who, thinking they’re being kind by offering snacks or leaving food available all the time, may actually be harming their pet.

With excess food, the animals that gain the most weight are older and neutered ones, whose metabolism has slowed down, or those that can only move in a limited way due to joint problems. Additionally, vascular issues can also develop.

Remember that animals have different needs, so always rely on a vet for advice. Your pet’s health depends on the choices you make for them.
